Join us for a Movie at the Lake — Wednesday, June 25 at 8 PM

The Hyde Community Center, in partnership with the Crystal Lake Conservancy and the City of Newton Parks, Recreation and Culture Department, presents a Movie at the Lake — an outdoor moviegoing experience at Crystal Lake.

We’ll set up a large screen in the park next to the Crystal Lake Bathhouse, where we will screen the endlessly quotable American teen comedy, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. This is a free, family-friendly event, and all are welcome! Bring a low beach chair or blanket.

The film follows a brash and charismatic high school senior who gets bored during a sick day from school and is determined to turn the day into an epic adventure because, "Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.“ He enlists his best friend and girlfriend to join him, and hijinks ensue. Written and directed by John Hughes and starring Matthew Broderick, Alan Ruck and Mia Sara, with Ben Stein as an unforgettable economics teacher who utters one of the film’s most iconic lines, “Bueller? Bueller?”. [1 hour 42 minutes]

Crystal Lake Bathhouse will be open until 10 PM so moviegoers have access to restrooms.
