The Hyde Community Center, in partnership with the Crystal Lake Conservancy and City of Newton Parks, Recreation and Culture Department, presents our Movie at the Lake — an outdoor movie at Crystal Lake. We’ll set up a large screen in the park next to the Crystal Lake Bathhouse, where we will screen the endlessly quotable American teen comedy, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. This is a free, family-friendly event, and all are welcome! Bring a low beach chair or blanket.

The film follows a brash and charismatic high school senior who gets bored during a sick day from school and is determined to turn the day into an epic adventure because, "Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.“ He enlists his best friend and girlfriend to join him, and hijinks ensue. Written and directed by John Hughes and starring Matthew Broderick, Alan Ruck and Mia Sara, and Ben Stein as an economics teacher who utters one of the film’s most quotable lines, “Bueller?
